Testing Blog by Mail

I’m writing this blog entry in an email and sending it to my wordpress software via a secret mail account I’ve set up on my server.

I’m not sure why anyone would do this, since it seems less convenient than blogging by internet. The only place I can think of where I have email but not internet is on my cell phone, and how much blogging will I honestly do from my cell phone?

Nevertheless, I suppose this is an interesting feature.

Update @ 12:31 pm: Well, I thought I had email on my phone, but apparently I don’t. This feature is utterly useless to me.

To me, Blog by Mail is a security compromise â€  once someone finds that email address, he/she can post obscene entries!

To Winslow:

It really depends. Wordpress will generate a random account name you can use (qnmfpa@bellsouth.net, anyone?).

Also if your webmail service is decent, it will have settings that allow you to filter all messages but ones from certain addresses to the trash.

please,
Do you really point me to a good tutorial online?

I’ve tried to blog by email without success

Pierre, your comment sure looks like spam to me. The website you listed isn’t even a blog. I’ve removed the link so you won’t get any Google PageRank from me. My apologies if you are a legitimate commenter.

As for your question, blogging by mail is different depending on what blogging software you use. If you’re already using WordPress, here are some good instructions: how to blog by email.

5. A response from Winslow Oddfellow II:

Nothing exists except atoms and empty space; everything else is opinion.

I recieved random statements like that from poker spammers when I first got spammed as well.
