Can you spare a nickel? I’m trying to raise enough money to buy a MacBook entirely in nickels. To help, click here. Thanks!

Nudge, Nudge

I’ve installed the excellent “Spread Firefox Wordpress plugin”:http://www.martinet.nl/wp-site/spread-firefox-wordpress-plugin and I’m having a lot of fun with it. I’ve used it to add a fairly unobtrusive bar across the top of my site (it only appears in Internet Explorer) to alert IE users to the inferiority of their browser. It shouldn’t get in anyone’s way, though [...]

A New Domain

A while ago I was “talking”:http://www.joeyday.com/2005/02/09/too-many-websites about a new domain name I was excited about acquiring. Little did I know the process would take as long as it did. Apparently, expired domains don’t become publicly available until 75 days after the stated expiration date.
Fortunately, the domain did quietly expire, and, after so much waiting, I’m [...]

New Categories

I’m going to start filing posts under a couple of new category systems, the “five solas”:http://www.joeyday.org/category/five-solas/ and the “doctrines of grace”:http://www.joeyday.org/category/doctrines-of-grace/. I don’t think all my posts will fit under these categories, but the empty categories will help me brainstorm new topics and I think these will serve as positive ways to organize my thoughts.

43 Things

I think I’m officially addicted to memes.
I just found this great site called 43 Things. It’s another of those social sites like del.icio.us and Flickr. At 43 Things you list your long- and short-term goals and then track your own progress. You can also find other people who are working toward the same goals and [...]

Ab’s Drive-in

Janene and I had dinner last night at one of our favorite places, “Ab’s Drive-in”:http://local.google.com/local?q=abs+drive+in&hl=en&lr=&c2coff=1&safe=off&sa=G&near=84119&rl=1&sc=1&radius=0&latlng=40690977,-111952964,17784051337607135689. I would recommend Ab’s to anyone with a stomach, and, no, I haven’t been paid to say that.
Ab’s signature meal is a Fat Boy burger with fries. Their burgers are excellent, but the fries are really where Ab’s shines. They [...]

LDS Blogging

I’ve been keeping up with a number of LDS blogs in my feed reader. For a complete list of the ones I read, see my del.icio.us “mormonism blog” category.
What struck me initially was the number of theologically liberal Mormon blogs there are when compared with the number of conservative ones. These are the kind of [...]

Mormon Literature Addendum

I want to thank everyone for the great feedback I received from my previous post on “Mormon Literature”:http://www.joeyday.org/2005/03/29/mormon-literature. There was a lot of information provided, but it gives me a great place to start and answers some questions about what I should focus on if I want to get a balanced and clear picture of [...]

Leaving the Saints

I have in my hands a copy of Martha Nibley Beck’s book, Leaving the Saints: How I Lost the Mormons and Found My Faith. When I noticed it on the shelf last night at the Christian bookstore where I work, I immediately pulled it and told the owner of the store we probably shouldn’t be [...]

The Trinity, Part 2

I started a series on the Trinity almost two months ago. I’m going to continue it making use of a concise little book (just under a hundred pages, not counting the indices) I discovered last year called Making Sense of the Trinity: 3 Crucial Questions, by Millard J. Erickson. When I say “make use of” [...]

Google Maps — Now With Satellite

Holy cow! It’s late and I should go to bed, but the “Google Blog just announced”:http://www.google.com/googleblog/2005/04/birds-eye-view.html that “Google Maps”:http://maps.google.com now has the ability to display satellite images in the same slick interface as it already delivers maps. Now you can have driving directions superimposed over actual images of the streets in your hometown.
In my [...]
